Custom Pipe Fittings Produced to Your Drawing

Home/Custom Service

Not every fitting on a project is a catalogue size. Large diameters, heavy wall thickness, non-standard angles, special material grades and one-off replacement parts are produced against your drawing. This page sets out what we produce to drawing, what we need from you to quote, and how a custom order runs from drawing to shipment.

What We Produce to Drawing

  • Carbon steel flanges to ASME B16.5 and B16.47, including sizes and pressure classes outside the standard range, extended hubs, non-standard bores and RTJ groove machining
  • Butt-weld elbows, returns and tees to ASME B16.9 and B16.28, in long radius and short radius, including non-standard angles and non-standard centre-to-face dimensions
  • Stainless steel flanges and fittings in ASTM A182 F304/F316L and A403 WP304/WP316L
  • Low-temperature and special material grades, including A350 LF2, quoted against your specification
  • Heavy wall and large diameter items beyond standard tooling, produced against your drawing
  • Replacement parts matched to a sample or to a dimensioned sketch, where no drawing exists

Standards and Materials We Work To

Our standard production runs to the ASME and ASTM system: ASME B16.5, B16.47, B16.9, B16.28 and B16.25 for dimensions and end preparation, and ASTM A105, A234 WPB, A350 LF2, A182 and A403 for material. Where your item falls outside these, we work to the drawing you supply. Dimensions, tolerances and material are taken from your drawing and confirmed in writing before production starts, so both sides are working to the same document.

How a Custom Order Runs

  1. You send the drawing, the specification and the quantity.
  2. We review feasibility — tooling, material availability, tolerances and inspection requirements — and come back with any technical question.
  3. We quote in writing, stating the material, the dimensions, the standard or drawing reference, the inspection scope, the packing and the lead time.
  4. On confirmation, material is booked and the production route is issued, including heat treatment and inspection where these are specified.
  5. Inspection is carried out before dispatch. Inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or your nominated inspector is welcome, and is arranged when the order is confirmed so it does not hold up shipment.
  6. The shipment leaves with an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate, the packing list and the documents required for customs clearance at your port.

What We Need From You to Quote

  • The drawing, with dimensions, tolerances and material. PDF, DWG, or a dimensioned sketch is workable; photographs of a sample with the key dimensions marked are enough for a first review.
  • The quantity, and whether this is a one-off item or a repeat requirement.
  • The applicable standard, where the item is dimensioned to one. Where it is not, the drawing governs.
  • The service conditions where they affect the material: design pressure and temperature, the fluid, and whether the service is sour or cyclic.
  • The inspection requirements, including whether a third party will inspect and which reports you need.
  • The destination port, so freight and packing can be quoted together.

The more of this you send, the closer the first quotation is to the final one. Where a detail is missing, we ask rather than assume.

Documentation and Inspection

Every custom order leaves with the same documentation as a standard order:

  • EN 10204 Type 3.1 material test certificate, traceable to the heat number and issued by the producing mill
  • Dimensional inspection report against your drawing
  • Commercial invoice stating the applicable HS code, and packing list
  • Certificate of origin on request, and fumigation certificate where wooden packing is used
  • Impact test, hardness test and NDT reports (RT / UT / MT / PT) on request, stated at quotation stage

Buyer FAQ

What counts as a custom order?

Anything that is not a standard catalogue size — a size or pressure class outside the standard range, a non-standard dimension, a special material, or a one-off replacement part. If you are unsure which category your item falls into, send the drawing and we will tell you whether it runs as a standard item or as a custom one.

Can you produce to a standard other than ASME?

We work to the drawing and specification you supply. Where an item is dimensioned to a standard outside the ASME and ASTM system, the dimensions, tolerances and material on your drawing govern, and these are confirmed in writing before production starts. Material certification is issued to EN 10204 Type 3.1.

What drawing format do you need?

PDF or DWG is preferred. A dimensioned sketch, or photographs of a sample with the key dimensions marked, is enough for us to review feasibility and give a first indication. Final production runs against a confirmed drawing.

Is there a minimum quantity for custom production?

Custom production is normally quoted at full container load, because tooling and material are booked for the run. Small quantities and one-off items are possible where the item can be produced on existing tooling. Send the quantity and we will tell you what applies to your item.

How long does a custom order take?

Longer than a standard size, because material and tooling are booked for the run. The lead time for your item is stated in the quotation and confirmed in writing before the order is placed. Sea freight to the Gulf is additional and depends on the destination port.

Can I get a sample before placing the full order?

For a custom item the sample is usually the first piece off the run rather than a separate item. Where a sample is needed before production starts, this is quoted separately and confirmed in writing.

Do custom items carry the same certificate as standard items?

Yes. Every shipment, custom or standard, is accompanied by an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate traceable to the heat number, issued by the producing mill. NDT and mechanical test reports are available on request and are stated at quotation stage.

Can our inspector visit before shipment?

Yes. Inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or your nominated inspector is welcome before dispatch, and is arranged at the time the order is confirmed so that it does not hold up shipment.

What happens if the drawing is revised after we place the order?

Send the revision as soon as it is issued. We re-confirm feasibility, price and lead time against the revised drawing before production continues. Work already carried out against the previous revision is charged as completed.

How do I start?

Send the drawing, the quantity and the destination port. We usually come back within 24 hours with a feasibility answer and a written quotation.
